POVERTY AND VIOLENCE
The poorer you are, the more vulnerable you are to violence. Women need money in our own hands to be able to leave a violent partner. Women need resources that help us escape and recover from violence, such as refuges, legal aid, helplines. For these reasons, we have been campaigning against the austerity policies of the past few years, which take away welfare benefits and housing, among other vital financial resources that make us depend on exploitative men, and cut off our escape routes out of violence.
